Open a subtitle file in a text editor and the timecodes get in the way; old SMI files are EUC-KR and turn to gibberish. This page shows SRT, VTT, SMI, and ASS subtitles as a clean time-ordered table and detects the Korean encoding automatically.
How to use it
- 1Click 'Choose SRT files' or drop a subtitle folder onto the page (SMI, VTT, ASS mixed in is fine).
- 2Click a subtitle to see the format, line count, and total length with a table ordered by start time. Zoom to read, 🖨 to print.
- 3To watch with a video, open the video and subtitle together in the Media Player tool.
What it shows
The same parser as the Media Player reads SRT, WebVTT, SAMI (SMI), and ASS/SSA into a table of start, end, and text. SMI encoding is detected between EUC-KR and UTF-8. ASS keeps the dialogue and strips style tags ({\b1} and similar).
Files are read inside the browser only and never sent anywhere. Close the tab and nothing remains.
Limits
Subtitle styling — fonts, colors, positions — isn't shown; this is for reading the lines. No editing, time shifting, or format conversion here. Without the video you can't tell whether the timing is in sync.
Good for
Checking which language or episode a subtitle file is, reading a garbled SMI, and skimming or printing the dialogue.
Frequently asked questions
My SMI still looks garbled.+
EUC-KR and UTF-8 are read automatically. If it's still wrong, the file may use another encoding such as Japanese or Chinese.
Can I convert SMI to SRT?+
This page is view-only. Use a dedicated subtitle tool or the subtitle features of the Media Player.
How do I watch a video with the subtitles?+
Put the video and subtitle file together into the Media Player tool; subtitles display and sync can be adjusted.
