When it comes in handy
A GitHub README, notes from Notion or Obsidian, or a chatbot answer in Markdown that has to be 'submitted as a Word file'. The same applies when handing developer docs to a non-technical team or distributing Markdown minutes as a PDF.
People who don't know Markdown find raw # and * hard to read; after conversion they get proper headings and lists.
Which formatting carries over
Headings (#, ##, ###), paragraphs, bullet and numbered lists, block quotes, and code blocks become document formatting, and bold, italic, strikethrough, and inline code carry over. Tables and horizontal rules are not supported yet and remain as text. The Word output opens in Word, Google Docs, and similar editors for further editing.
The PDF is typeset directly at A4 without going through a print dialog. Elements outside Markdown, such as external image links or HTML tags, may not carry over.
Polishing the result
For the most control, download the Word file and adjust fonts, margins, and headers there. To refine a PDF, convert to Word first, edit, and save as PDF from Word.
The output can be checked in the preview pane, and the source text never leaves your device.
