EPUB is the standard ebook format, but browsers won't open it without a reader app. This page unpacks an EPUB inside the browser and lets you read it chapter by chapter — no app install, and the file is never uploaded.
How to use it
- 1Click 'Choose EPUB files' or drop a folder of books onto the page. Cover thumbnails appear in the grid.
- 2Click a book to open the table of contents and the first chapter. Pick a chapter from the contents or use Previous/Next.
- 3Use + − for text size and 🖨 to print the current chapter.
What it shows
The EPUB (a ZIP bundle) is read via container.xml → OPF for the cover, contents, and chapter order, and each chapter's XHTML is rendered in a script-blocked sandboxed frame. Fonts, images, and styles packaged in the book are included with the chapter so it looks close to the original. EPUB 2 and 3 are both read.
Files are read inside the browser only and never sent anywhere. Close the tab and nothing remains.
Limits
DRM-protected EPUB (many store-bought files) has encrypted content and won't open. Reading position, bookmarks, and highlights aren't saved. Vertical-writing and fixed-layout (comic-style) EPUBs may lose their layout.
Good for
Checking which book an EPUB is, reading a bit on a PC without a reader app, and reviewing the contents and chapter structure of an EPUB you made.
Frequently asked questions
Does it remember where I stopped?+
No. This page is for checking and short reads, so it doesn't keep your position. For a book you'll read over time, a reader app is better.
A purchased ebook won't open.+
It carries store DRM (Adobe DRM and the like). It opens only in that store's app; this viewer doesn't remove DRM.
Can I convert it to PDF?+
Print each chapter with 🖨 and choose 'Save as PDF'. There is no one-shot whole-book PDF export.
