iPhones save photos as HEIC (HEIF) by default, and Windows and older Android devices won't open them, which sends people looking for converters. This page decodes HEIC to JPEG inside the browser and shows it right away. Open a whole folder to skim a grid and zoom into single photos.
How to use it
- 1Click 'Choose HEIC files' to pick photos, or drop a folder copied from your iPhone onto the page.
- 2Thumbnails fill the grid. Click one to open it large; zoom with the wheel or pinch, rotate with R.
- 3If you need JPEG files, the related tools bar takes you to HEIC Convert. For viewing alone there's nothing to convert.
What it shows
HEIC, HEIF, and HIF files are decoded to JPEG inside the browser. Grid thumbnails use a small decode (60% quality); the large view decodes at 92% quality, close to the original. EXIF orientation is applied.
Files are read inside the browser only and never sent anywhere. Close the tab and nothing remains.
Limits
HEIC files holding several images — bursts or Live Photos — show only the first. 10-bit HDR photos are displayed in 8-bit, so bright areas can look flatter than the original. Very large photos (48 MP and up) take a few seconds to decode.
Good for
Checking iPhone photos on a Windows PC in a hurry, HEIC attachments that won't open, and picking out which photos to convert before converting them.
Frequently asked questions
Can I save HEIC as JPEG here?+
This page is view-only. Use the HEIC Convert tool to batch-convert to JPEG or PNG and download — also with no upload.
Does it show shooting info (EXIF)?+
The ⓘ info button shows size and date; full metadata such as camera, lens, and GPS is in the EXIF Viewer tool.
Why won't some HEIC files open?+
If the HEIC holds AV1 (AVIF-style) or another unusual codec instead of HEVC, or the file is damaged, the decoder fails. Re-exporting as JPEG from the original device is the quickest fix.
