Convert a PDF to Word (.docx). Two modes: Editable extracts the text and keeps headings, tables, and alignment; Preserve layout embeds each page as an image so it looks exactly the same. Which one fits which document is explained below. Conversion runs inside your browser.
How to use it

- 2Choose a mode: Editable (text) if you need to change the text, Preserve layout (image) if appearance matters most.
- 3Click Convert, download the .docx, and open it in Word, Google Docs, or a similar editor.
Which mode to choose
Editable pulls the text out of the PDF and rebuilds headings, paragraphs, tables, and alignment as far as possible. It suits text-led documents such as reports, contracts, and papers, and you can edit the text straight away. Slide decks with columns, shapes, and design elements may come out rearranged.
Preserve layout renders each page as an image and places it in Word. Presentations and designed documents look identical, but the text cannot be edited. Use it when a Word file is required but nothing needs changing.
Scanned PDFs need OCR first
A PDF from a scanner contains pictures of text, so Editable mode finds nothing to extract. Run such files through the Scanned PDF OCR tool first to get the text, then paste it into Word.
To check whether a PDF has real text, try dragging over words in a viewer. If they can be selected, Editable mode will work.
Checking the result
After converting, skim for table cells, bullets, and line breaks that differ from the original. Paragraphs that were broken into lines in the PDF may stay broken in Word.
Fonts are replaced with Word's defaults; if the original font isn't installed on your device, a similar one is substituted.

Are files uploaded to a server?+
No. Conversion happens inside your browser and the document never leaves your device.
Is formatting preserved?+
Editable mode keeps headings, tables, and alignment as far as possible, but complex layouts can change. Use Preserve layout if appearance matters.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?+
Scanned PDFs have no text to extract. Run the Scanned PDF OCR tool first.
Can I get other formats?+
This tool produces .docx. Most word processors can open it and save to their own formats.
I used Preserve layout and can't edit the text.+
That mode embeds pages as images. Convert again with Editable (text) mode to edit.
