Straighten Scans
Fix crooked scans and photos of documents — fine rotation, cropping, PNG output, all in your browser with no upload
Straightens document images that were scanned or photographed at a slight angle. Auto-fit estimates the angle and page area; then fine-tune with 0.05° rotation, two-point leveling, and cropping before saving as PNG. Everything runs in your browser.
What you can do
- ✓Auto-fit (angle and page area)
- ✓Two-point leveling
- ✓0.05° fine rotation + 90° turns
- ✓Batch save as ZIP or to a folder
How to use
- 1Add one or more scans or photos
- 2Auto-fit, then fine-tune angle and crop
- 3Download a ZIP or save straight to a folder
Supported formats · JPG · PNG · WebP · TIFF → PNG
Straighten document images that were scanned crooked or photographed at an angle with a phone. Auto-fit estimates the angle and page area; fine-tune with 0.05° rotation, two-point leveling, and cropping, then save as PNG. Handles many images at once, and images are processed inside your browser without being sent to a server.
How to use it
- 1Drop or choose one or more scans or photos (JPG, PNG, WebP, TIFF).
- 2Press Auto-fit to set the angle and page area, then fine-tune with the rotation buttons or slider while watching the grid.
- 3For images auto-fit misses, click two points on a line that should be straight, or drag in the preview to crop by hand.
- 4Download a ZIP or (in Chrome and Edge) save straight to a folder. File names stay the same; only the extension becomes .png.
When it comes in handy
Scans where the paper sat crooked on the glass, phone photos of papers on a desk that include the background, or receipts, contracts, and forms you want tidy before combining them into a PDF.
If you scanned many pages the same way, fix one and use Apply to all to give the rest the same angle and crop.
How auto-fit works
For photos on a dark background such as a desk, it finds the edge of the bright paper and sets the angle and crop from it. For white-background scans where the paper edge isn't visible, it aligns to the direction of the text lines.
Pages that are mostly pictures, or photos where the paper and background are similar in brightness, may not be detected. Those are left unchanged and you're told so; use two-point leveling or crop by hand.
What it can't do
This tool only rotates and makes rectangular crops. It can't flatten photos taken from an angle that came out as a trapezoid (perspective distortion) or pages that curve into the book spine. A two-page spread is treated as one image.
Large scans use a lot of memory. Safari limits canvas size (about 16 megapixels), so saving very large scans there may fail; Chrome or Edge is recommended.
Quality and format
Results are saved as PNG, so saving adds no compression loss and re-saving never degrades them. Rotating by angles other than 0° or 90° does resample pixels, so edges may soften very slightly.
The preview uses a scaled-down copy so editing stays responsive, but saving reapplies the same rotation and crop at the original resolution. Corners exposed by rotation are filled with white.
Frequently asked questions
Are files uploaded to a server?+
No. Everything happens inside your browser and images never leave your device.
Which files can I use?+
JPG, PNG, WebP, and TIFF. Results are always saved as PNG.
Auto-fit got it wrong.+
Fine-tune with the slider or ±0.1° buttons, or click two points on a line that should be straight. Reset this image takes you back to the start.
Can it flatten a photo taken at an angle (trapezoid)?+
No. It only rotates and crops rectangles, so perspective distortion isn't corrected. Re-shooting from directly above the page works best.
Can I apply the same settings to many images?+
Yes. Fix one and press Apply to all, or use Auto-fit (all) to estimate each image separately.
