Remove the open password and protection from a PDF whose password you know, so you don't have to type it every time. It does not find unknown passwords. Both the password and the document stay inside your browser and are never sent anywhere.

When it comes in handy
Statements from banks, card issuers, and telecoms usually come locked with something like your date of birth. If you keep them month after month, unlocking once saves typing the password every time you open one.
It is also the step before feeding a protected file into other tools such as Merge or Extract Pages, or before sharing a file you locked yourself.
What it can and cannot remove
If you know the open password, the open password and the permission restrictions (printing, copying) are removed together. A file whose password you don't know cannot be unlocked; there is no brute-force or bypass, by design.
If the password is correct but unlocking fails, the file may use a very old or unusual encryption scheme.
Keep unlocked files carefully
An unlocked file opens for anyone. Store statements containing personal data somewhere protected by your device lock, and re-lock with the Protect tool before sending to others.
The password you enter is used only for decryption and is never stored.

The file may use a very old or unusual encryption scheme. Try 'Save as' in another viewer and unlock the saved copy.
Is the original PDF changed?+
No. You get a new unprotected PDF; the original stays as it is.
