Saving a message gives you an EML; dragging one out of Outlook gives you an MSG. Opening them later needs a mail client, which many PCs don't have. This page opens EML and MSG in the browser — subject, sender, date, body, attachments — and lets you flip through the attachments in place.
How to use it
- 1Click 'Choose EML files' or drop a folder of saved mail onto the page (MSG mixed in is fine).
- 2Click a message in the grid to see the headers (subject, from, to, cc, date) and the body. HTML bodies render in an isolated frame.
- 3Click 'Expand attachments' in the attachment list and photo, PDF, and document attachments join the viewer list for ← → browsing.
What it shows
EML is parsed by a MIME parser (postal-mime) for headers, body, and attachments; MSG is read directly from Outlook's compound file (CFB) structure to extract the same. The HTML body is shown when present, otherwise the text body. HTML renders in a sandboxed frame with scripts and remote images blocked, so tracking pixels don't fire.
Files are read inside the browser only and never sent anywhere. Close the tab and nothing remains.
Limits
Inline images (cid:) display, but remote-server images are deliberately blocked and appear gray. Attachments in formats the viewer doesn't support (e.g. .exe) are listed only. No replying or forwarding. Encrypted (S/MIME) messages show no body.
Good for
Checking a mail backup handed over from a former employee's PC, re-reading messages saved as evidence, and opening MSG on a Mac without Outlook.
Frequently asked questions
Can I save an attachment?+
This viewer is view-only and has no save button. Expand attachments to check their contents; to get them as files, save from a mail client.
Images in the body don't show.+
Images loaded from external servers are blocked to prevent tracking. Images stored inline with the message do display.
What about PST and OST files?+
No — whole Outlook data files aren't supported. Drag messages out of Outlook as MSG or save them as EML, then open those.
