FileKeeps

About FileKeeps

FileKeeps is a collection of free tools for working with documents, PDFs, images, audio, and video right in your browser. True to its name, 'All Files. Kept Private.', it is built on one principle: files are processed on your device, not on a server.

Who builds and runs it

FileKeeps is built and operated by NCTOO Inc., based in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Business details and contact information are at the bottom of every page and on the contact page.

We design and implement the tools ourselves, and the guides on this site are written after actually using the tools. We do not publish outsourced or auto-generated articles.

Why we built it

Uploading a contract, a résumé, family photos, or a meeting recording to a file-conversion site never feels right, because you cannot tell which server keeps the file or for how long. Yet most of these jobs, such as merging PDFs, compressing images, or extracting audio, can be done inside a modern browser.

So we built the tools one by one around a simple rule: if a job can be done without uploading, do it without uploading. No install, no sign-up, start in this window, and nothing is left behind when you are done.

How it works

The tools run directly on your device using browser standards such as WebAssembly and WebGPU. PDFs are handled by qpdf and pdf.js, audio and video by ffmpeg, and Korean HWP documents by a renderer reconstructed from public analysis, all inside the browser. Even AI features such as vocal removal download the model to your device and compute there.

That is why files never pass through our servers. The first time you open a tool there may be a short wait while its program (a few to a few dozen megabytes) downloads, but the browser caches it and later visits are fast.

There are two exceptions. In Auto Transcribe and AI Document Analysis, only when you turn on the 'high-quality hybrid' option yourself, the audio or part of the document text is sent temporarily for processing, and the screen says so. The default is always on-device. Details are in the privacy policy.

What you can do

  • Documents — view and edit Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Korean HWP, and CAD (DWG) files; find and replace across documents; convert Markdown and CSV
  • PDF — merge, split, extract, rotate, organize; compress; protect and unlock; watermark and page numbers; e-signature; text editing; convert to images, Word, and Excel; OCR for scans
  • Images — convert formats, HEIC, compress, edit, stitch, watermark, ID and passport photos, blur, OCR, view and remove EXIF, make stamps and signatures, QR codes
  • Audio and video — play, convert, trim, merge, equalize, remove vocals, record, add background music, thumbnails, watermark, crop, compress, GIF, auto transcription
  • Utilities — ZIP and unzip, character count, special characters, password generator, change file dates, device info

The set keeps growing. See the full list on the tools home and how-tos in the guides.

Limits, stated plainly

Because processing happens on your device, it depends on your device. Videos over several hundred megabytes or PDFs with thousands of pages can slow down or fail against browser memory limits; when that happens, the tool explains how to split the job.

Formats without a public specification, such as Korean HWP, are rendered from public analysis and may look different from the original application. Each tool page describes what can differ and when.

This site is written in Korean and English. The other ten languages are machine-translated and then checked automatically for errors, but they are not reviewed line by line by a person. If you spot something that reads wrong, please tell us.
