How to Add Background Music to a Video — Loop, Volume, Fade

A short track is fine
If the music is shorter than the video, it loops automatically to fill the whole length; if longer, it's trimmed to fit. With fade-out on, the music eases away just before the video ends.
TipIf the video has speech, keep the original sound on and set the music to 20-30% volume — atmosphere without burying the voice.

One note on music rights
If the video is headed for YouTube or similar, check that you're allowed to use the track. Free libraries like the YouTube Audio Library are a safe bet.
